Dennis Edwin Shaver, age 89, of Chesterfield, MO passed away peacefully at his home on Mon, Oct 18, 2021.
Dennis was born in Des Moines, IA, son of Glenn Shaver Sr and Alta Shaver. He proudly joined the USMC in 1952 and served in the Korean War until he was honorably discharged with a Korean Service Medal, a U.N. Service Medal, a National Defence Service Metal, a Korean Presidential Unit Citation, a Good Conduct Metal and a Purple Heart. Dennis left behind a scrapbook describing in detail pictures and stories of his life as a proud US Marine. OOH RAH!!
Dennis attended Kansas City Art Institute and graduated with his degree. He loved to draw and was very artistic in so many ways (especially nudes as he would like to brag about!). He then went on to becoming a flooring sales specialist which led him through many travels and his eventual retirement.
Dennis was married to his one and only love, Joan R Shaver, in 1962, who prececed him in death in 2018. He is survived by his only daughter, Darcy Alber and his brother, Glenn Shaver Jr. Along with his 3 grandchildren, Joshua Dennis Alber, Kency Gail Alber and David Michael Stevens II. He also left behind many friends who were considered more as family. He also had an extended family thru Beta Sigma Phi.
Dennis was also an avid football fan (GO CHIEFS), baseball fan (GO CARDS), a lover of poker, and any type of card games know to man. He loved listening to Frank Sinatra and watching old western shows. He LOVED chocolate, ice cream and popcorn.
He embraced his family with his joy of life, sense of humor, laughter, jokes, wit, whistling and singing little diddies. He was a simple man, very caring, a fighter, always carrying a positive attitude. His love for his family and grandkids was above and beyond. Everyone he met loved him dearly and become a fast friend.
A full military burial service will be held at 12:45 at Jefferson Barracks Memorial Cemetary on Thurs, Dec 23, 2021. A celebration of life will follow at Dennis and Darcy's home located at 15460 Highcroft Dr, Chesterfield, MO 63017 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Light refreshments and drinks will be served. Alcohol will not be provided but you are welcome to bring your own.
in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Veterans, The Cancer Society or the Alzheimers organization.
