James H. Altman, Sr., 88, of Arnold, MO, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2019 with his daughter, Sheree McGill and son-in-law Tim McGill, by his side. Jim was born August 6, 1930 in Lincoln, IL, to Fred and Mary (nee: Greenslate) Altman, the oldest of five children. He graduated from Lincoln High School and served in the Marine Corps.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Herb Altman; and sister, Marysue Altman. He is survived by his brother, Fred Altman of Pekin, IL; sister, Joyce Seelye of Lincoln IL; sisters-in-law, Sharon Altman and Erika Altman; children, Jim (Sue) Altman, Jr., Sheree (Tim) McGill, Mary (Frank) Butterfield, Jeff Altman, and Lori Allbritton; 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Jim loved hunting, fishing, showing and judging walking horses, the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. He worked in the construction industry his entire life. He enjoyed working and only retired 7 years ago due to injuries suffered in a car accident.
The family would like to thank the administrators and employees at Woodland Manor in Arnold, MO, for their loving care and support during his final days and the past six years.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Connect Church in Fenton, MO on Friday, March 15, 2019 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave, Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601 or at https://www.alz.org/
