Beard, Roger Dale, of Town and Country, MO, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at the age of 85. Loving husband of 47 years to Carolyn J. Beard (nee: Neal); devoted father of Candace L.(Daniel) Briggs, Christopher J. Livingston, Gregory J.(Brenda) Livingston, and Leslie (Ricky) Brown; cherished grandfather of Alexandra C. Briggs, Anastasia D. Briggs, Alexis L. Livingston, Aleah G. Livingston, Brittany K. Barrington and dear brother of Dorothy J. Winka and Ronnie L. Beard, with many nieces and nephews, which he loved.
Prior to his retirement in 1991, Roger was the President of Wetterau Information Services Division, and before that he served as Vice President of Data Processing. During Roger's time with Wetterau, he developed the H.O.P.E System for grocery retailers, which was revolutionary to the grocery industry and the way stores operate to this day. He also worked as a system engineer and educator for IBM. Additionally, he taught school for years, was a Graduate of Illinois State in 1960 and served his country in the U.S. Navy as an aviation technician. He grew up in Flora, IL.
Roger spent the majority of his life in Collinsville, Illinois with his loving wife Carolyn and enjoyed spending time with family, friends, reading, researching family genealogy, and serving others. He exemplified putting others ahead of himself and was a role model to all, and a true servant of God.
A private memorial service will be held at Mari de Villa Clubhouse on Saturday July 22. 2017.
