Ann Byington Caldwell passed away July 24th 2018 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Ann was born December 16th 1968 in Columbia Mo. Although she loved to travel, especially to warm beachy places, Columbia was her home for her entire life. Ann graduated from Hickman High School in 1988 and went on to study Cosmetology. She was a founding partner of Studio 311 Salon. Her 25+ years as a cosmetologist was a perfect career fit for her vibrant personality and contagious smile. Family and friends often commented how ironic it was that she worked in the beauty industry as a hairstylist her entire adult life…but was able to rock the bald head so beautifully during her fight. Ann was an affectionate people person. If she greeted you it was almost always with a hug so tight you might not be able to break free. Ann truly enjoyed life. She loved spending time with family, friends and her animals. She also loved to fish and hike around the Mid Missouri creeks, rivers and trails.
Ann’s proudest life accomplishment was being a mom to her two children Dalton and Courtney. She embraced motherhood as her ultimate calling. She was a literal Mama-Bear in every sense of the phrase. She took on the role of Aunt Annie to her numerous nieces and nephews with that same love and energy.
Ann is survived by; her children, Dalton Caldwell and Courtney Caldwell, her mother Nancy Byington, her soul mate Kevin Akin, her siblings Jay Byington (Pat), Pam Mertz (Daniel), Bill Byington (Tammy), and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and a great nephew. Ann was preceded in death by her father Dr. Keith Byington.
A Celebration of Ann’s life will take place Sunday August 12th 2018 from 10am to 2pm at The Waters House, 2104 Hillcrest Drive, Columbia Missouri, located in the Waters-Moss Memorial Wildlife Area. In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests that you bring any of your favorite photos of you and Ann and any stories you would like to share with Ann’s family.
Monetary donations can be made in Ann’s name to the American Cancer Society.
