Anton L. Merklin Jr.

Merklin, Anton, 76, of Ofallon MO, died July 1, 2023.  

 

Anton Lawrence Merklin was born on November 9, 1946 to Dr. Anton and Alice Merklin.  He received a catholic education graduating from Cristian Brothers College High School with honors.  Shortly after high school he joined the army reserve as a medic. He attended college in pursuit of his degree while working as a police officer, UPS supervisor, and ended his career retiring at Ford Motor Company.  Anton (Big Tony as he preferred being called), loved dogs.  He was  especially fond of his German Shepherd Skye.  He was very talented and loved painting and working with plants. 

 

He is survived by his ex wife Debbie Wilson. His daughters Melody (Gerald) Cooper, Mercedes (Robert) Dodd, step daughters Monica White and Carmen (William) Randle. Sons Anton Merklin III, Ryan (Nicole) Merklin, Brandon Merklin, a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, his long time partner Verna Massey, and friends.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents Anton and Alice Merklin, his first wife Curtistine Merklin and daughter Christy Merklin.

 

A celebration gathering will be held on Friday July 14th from 12-3 pm at Baue Funeral Home O'Fallon (311 Wood St. O'Fallon, MO 63366). Memorial service to immediately follow.
