Arthur Messner, 78, of West Alton, MO, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2024
.Born in Dayton, OH, Art graduated from Cahokia Senior High School in 1964. Shortly after, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army, where he served his country with honor.
After his military service, Art worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for St. Louis County, where his hard work and dedication were valued by many.
Art was known for his love of NASCAR, the open road on his Harley, and the joy he found in fishing, camping, and four-wheeling. His adventurous spirit, infectious humor, and zest for life made him beloved by all who knew him. Whether enjoying the outdoors or making others laugh, Art lived life to the fullest and brought joy to everyone around him.
Art will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those he touched.
Art is survived by his significant other, Christine McCabe; his two daughters, Paula (Rodney) Lee and Dianna Messner; his grandchildren, Brent (Ashley) Messner, Ryan Moore, and Alyson Boehle; and his great-grandson, Miles Messner. He is also survived by his two sisters, Linda (Vern) Robinson and Annette (Richard) Ronto.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur J. Messner and Elizabeth Clark; siblings, John Messner and Carole Forsythe and granddaughter, Valerie Moore.
A Veteran's memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Jefferson Barracks. Family and Friends will meet at Sylvan Springs Park at 9:45am and process to Jefferson Barracks. When you turn onto Sheridan Road from Telegraph Road, there is a large parking lot behind Silver Springs Automotive Shop, on the left, which is the Sylvan Springs Upper Parking Lot. Pull into this parking lot.
