Carol Adell Schmale McVey was born on August 17, 1935 in Addieville, Illinois. She passed away at Laclede Groves nursing home on September 11, 2016 at the age of 81. She is survived by her 8 children, Lynn (Mike) Flaim, Dan (Tammy) McVey, Karen (Hal) Hutcheson, Elizabeth (Rex) Thurman, David (Sherri) McVey, John (Ashley) McVey, Mary (Lewis) Shackelford and Pat (Angie) McVey, 19 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, 4 brothers and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Leona Schmale, 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
Carol grew up in and around St. Louis, Missouri and was a long time resident of St. James, Missouri before returning to St. Louis after raising her family.
The family would like to share their sincere gratitude and appreciation to Lutheran Senior Services for the care and compassion they bestowed on her, as well as the family. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Laclede Groves on Saturday, September 17 at 4:00 pm, 723 S Laclede Station Road, St. Louis, Missouri.
Please watch for event parking signs on property. Carol's children will host family and friends in the auditorium following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to '˜Lutheran Senior Services Benevolent Fund', 1150 Hanley Industrial Court, St. Louis, Missouri 63144.
The family is being served by Cremation Society of Missouri.
