Claudine W. Cundiff

Claudine Willinae Cundiff (nee Clark) of Florissant, MO passed away on Wednesday evening, 18 August 2021, age 64.  Claudine was born on 1 August, 1957 in Montgomery County, VA.  She was the youngest of 3 children born to Claude Clark and Virginia Clark (nee Creasey).  She grew up in the beautiful rural mountains of western Virginia in a home without running water.  It was there, by the light of a wood-burning stove, that she studied hard and became the first person in her family to graduate high school.  Eleven years ago she moved to the St. Louis, MO region to be closer to her only child, Claude Cundiff.

Claudine was a kind, generous and gentle soul with a love for animals, her family and Westerns.  Always a talker, she never missed an opportunity to deliver one of her many “country sayings”.  Whether writing letters to squirrels or proudly displaying her latest cat collage, her quirkiness and child-like innocence were endearing. She never understood all the suffering in the world, but did what was in her power to relieve it.  Her laugh was infectious. Her hugs were big and tight.  She made you feel special.  She will be dearly missed.

Claudine was proceeded in death by both her parents and her sisters Kay and Linda.  She is survived by her son, Claude Cundiff, his wife Karen of Florissant, MO, nephews, Bobby and Steven of Shawsville, VA, her cat, Simmi and grand-cat, Pojo.

In accordance with her wishes, Claudine will be cremated and her ashes sprinkled on the Blue Ridge Parkway, “Lord willing and the creek don’t rise”.  In lieu of flowers please consider donating to All Paws Animal Rescue at www.allpawsrescue.info.

Celebration of Life service to be determined.
