Sterkin, Daniel (Dysphonix) 48, of St. Peters, MO, passed away peacefully with Kristie by his side on December 21, 2023.
This only makes sense, of course, because he loved the Winter solstice as it is the longest night of the year. He was a definite night owl of sorts.
Daniel was born in St. Petersburg, Russia and was a genius at everything he did. Daniel was an incredible and innovative musician that specialized in electronic music. His musical legacy will live as long as the earth is round. Along with his music came a passion for photography that he definitely inherited from his dad. Dan also appreciated good music, art, cuisine, film and travel.
There was a kind of innate magic inside of him that attracted the many friends he had. Oh snap! Well, that was Dan the comedian and if the laughing turned into stomach spasms and tears that was a good thing. He absolutely adored his dog child, an adopted pit bull and yes she is adorable. A true musical pioneer who was taken too soon, he had so much to offer and so much to offer to those in need when he could. He cared immensely for those he kept close to his heart. Dan believed strongly in the betterment of the self and did not rely on institutions but trusted in family, community, friendship and even technology to lead the way. It’s quite possible that you shared something very special with Dan and only you both knew about it, as Dan truly treated everyone as individuals and met you where you were. He inherited his father’s love of gadgetry and his mother’s love of food, which made his kitchen a joy to cook in. Meals gone wrong were comedic performances, never a tragedy. His actions will be remembered where he created beauty: in his relationships with family, friends, and the thousands he touched in the STL rave scene with his performances and music.
He is survived by his parents, his life partner Kristie, and their dog Toshi. Daniel was a marvelous and unique human being. He will be missed so much. Hugs and kisses from emo Kris and Toshi and see you in the next life baby!
