Douglas L. McCafferty

Doug was born in St. Louis, MO and graduated from high school in St. Petersburg, FL. He continued on to join the United States Marine Corp.  

Doug was very family-oriented and made the decision to be a full-time caregiver to his father, mother and grandchildren. Doug enjoyed good food and was an avid sports fanatic. 

If you were to ask any of his grandchildren, Doug, also known as “Papa”, was the “best Papa”! He cherished all his grandchildren and helped raise many of them during the day until they moved on to kindergarten. He also adopted his youngest granddaughter, Marianna.  

Doug is survived by his mother, Marian Schnieder (nee: Anderson) and father, Lee McCafferty; his children, Charisin Dattilo (nee: McCafferty), Joesph McCafferty, Brianna McCafferty, Douglas R. McCafferty, Alyssa Lawerence and Jonathan Lawernce; his grandchildren, Adrianna, Piper, Emilia, Phoebe and Marianna; dear brother of Kelly (Darrin) Eigenmann, Mindy Schneider, Jason Schneider, Tim McCafferty, Michael McCafferty and James Bradford.  

He is preceded in death by his father, Lester Schnieder. 

There will be an immediate family viewing at Baue Funeral Care and Cremation Center in St. Peters, MO on Thursday, July 13, 2023. 

A celebration of life will be held for all at SunRise Church in O’Fallon, MO on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 2:00-3:30pm with a service to follow.
