Eileen Mary Mannion Canty of St. Louis Missouri died peacefully August 6, 2020. Eileen was born in Glenamaddy County Galway Ireland on December 3, 1930. At age 18, she became the first in her family to immigrate to the USA. She arrived by Ship on the SS Washington in 1949 and settled in St. Louis where she worked as a Personal Assistant to The Luyties Family, who owned a Homeopathic Pharmaceutical Company.
Eileen was a very devout Catholic and was involved in many organizations and charities, among which include Father’s Dunn’s Home for Boys, The Ancient Order of Hibernian’s, and St. Patrick’s Parade Committee. Eileen had an amazing giving heart and enjoyed a good crack (conversation). Eileen adored playing Bridge, baking Irish Bread, entertaining guests and most of all, the company of family and friends.
Eileen is survived by her daughters Eileen Maura Moran, Kathleen Guerrein (Paul), her grandchildren Brigid, Quinn and Conor, her brothers James (Ann), Mike (Ann) of Ireland and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Gene Canty, companion Walter (Curly) Sanders, her parents James and Norah Mannion, brother Tom and sister Norah.
Eileen had many amazing caregivers including Pam Hoffman and most recently those at The Cottages of Lake St. Louis. We thank all for the loving wonderful care. She will be missed and certainly her Irish Eyes are smiling down upon us.
