On April 18, 2017, Ethel Lula (Anderson) Cain, 91, peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home into the arms of Jesus.  She is the wife of Donald Howard Cain, who preceded her in death in 1999. They were married in 1948 and shared 50 wonderful years of marriage together in Granite City, Illinois, where they raised their family.

Born in Jennings, Missouri, in 1926, Ethel’s family moved to Dixon, Missouri, when she was 2 years old.  There she attended school and graduated from Dixon High School in 1944. She was crowned Queen of Dixon’s Fair in 1945.  She is the son of Alva and Mary (Ziegler) Anderson and is the youngest of four children.  She is preceded in death by her three older brothers, Raymond, Norman, and Herbert Anderson.

After beginning a family in 1952, Ethel stayed home to raise her 3 children.  After then, she returned to work at the IRS, then with the Department of Army and eventually retired as an accounting technician from the Department of Defense in 1988.  Throughout her career she received numerous awards for her dedication, commitment, and excellent work ethics.

Ethel loved learning new things (i.e. using a laptop and a smart phone), her dogs, traveling, fishing, being outdoors, cooking, watching Fox News & Hallmark, but her passion was being with and enjoying her family.  She will be remembered for her kind, compassionate ways and a giving nature, always showing the love of Christ and caring for others.

She is survived by her 3 children, Herbert (Linda) Cain, Mark Cain, and Donna (Gary) Clark; her 7 grandchildren, Robin Cain, Erin (Eric) Jackson, Rachel Cain, Justin Cain, Lauren (Elijah) Murrell, Kelsey (Luke) Wright, and Rebecca (Michael) Thomas; and her 5 great-grandchildren, Titus Murrell, Addie Murrell, Logan Murrell, Oliver Jackson, and Kane Jackson.

There will be a private, family graveside service in Dixon, Missouri where “Her children rise up, and call her blessed… “ Proverbs 31:28a
