Doering, Francis Joseph, 74, of Lake St. Louis, Missouri, passed away on October 14, 2022.
Frank was born August 28, 1948 in Creve Coeur, the son of Joseph and Pat (née Louks) Doering. He grew up in St. Monica’s Parish with his siblings Paul (Patty), Glenn (the late Marge), Larry (Sue), Mark (Julia), Roger (Cathy), Karyn Curran (Mike), and the late Tom (Mary Lytton). He graduated from McBride High School. He received his BS, MS, and PhD in Chemical Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla.
Frank married Barbara Ann (née Kemp) on January 8, 1971. They proudly raised their three daughters, Angela Surry (Jeff), Michelle (Jeremy Quinn), and Julie Ream (John). He impressed upon them the importance of family, faith, friendship, and having fun. He encouraged them to get good grades in order to earn scholarships. He was Grandpa to CeCe and Xander, who both cherished him very much.
Frank was a chemical engineer for Monsanto for most of his career, and a project manager for Crosslink & Akermin, before retiring to spend more time traveling with Barb and volunteering with the Society of St.Vincent De Paul. He was very involved in the St. Ferdinand Parish, and remained active in AIChE, the Academy of Chemical Engineers, Sigma Tau Gamma, and Rolla’s St. Patrick’s Day celebration.
After the passing of his beloved wife, Frank moved to Lake St. Louis to spend time with his grandkids, play golf, and make new friends in his retirement community, where he served as president of the Out and About Club. His other passions included discussing politics and religion with his breakfast buddies, "working out" at the YMCA, getting bitten by horseshoes, divulging anecdotes about his siblings, Cardinals baseball, and being the last to leave a family gathering.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, 1765 Charbonier Rd, on Saturday, November 5. Later that evening, a Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 4:00 – 10:00 pm in Memorial Hall, 1900 W. Randolph, Blanchette Park, St. Charles.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Vincent De Paul Society of St. Louis and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
