Gene Ronald Smith

Gene Ronald Smith, 61, of Dardenne Prairie, Missouri passed away peacefully on September 5th, 2023.

Gene was born on May 5th, 1962, in St Louis, Missouri. After graduating from Berkeley High School, he joined the US Marine Corp in 1980, attending Basic Training at MCRD in San Diego, California. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, California, and proudly spent his years in service in both Okinawa and South Korea.

He married JoNell Carlstrom Smith on December 8th, 2000. They were happily married for 22 years.

Gene was a carpenter by trade for 25 years and could do just about anything that the job called for before retiring to spend time with his wife. He was a fan of Saint Louis sports teams and the Kansas City Chiefs, was an excellent cook, loved all kids and animals, and was always a person you could depend on.

Gene is survived by his children, Christopher, Walter, Jennifer, and Andrea, his stepchildren Sarah and Matthew, his grandchildren Alexa, Lily, Ashly, Drew, Keegan, Kierra, Lillian, Azlynn, Areli, Caroline, Clementine, Adeline, and Simon, his beloved sisters Beverly and Susan, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Marion and Ronald Smith, his brother Wayne Smith, and his sister Kelly Smith.

He is especially missed by his kitty-girl, Alice Jane Smith.

A memorial gathering will be held at a future date.
