Gordon Fisher Cox
Born in St Louis on March 28, 1944 to parents John Craib and Jane Caroline (Fisher) Cox - died on February 8, 2017 in his sleep at home.
Father to daughters Jennifer (Chris) Gillham (Cox) and Tara (Chad) Crater (Cox), and son Michael Fisher Cox (deceased); brother John Craib Cox (Chicago,IL); sister Jane Cox ( St Louis); Grandchildren Caroline, William and Elizabeth; many nieces and nephews and close friends. Born and raised in St Louis, Gordon attended Ladue Horton Watkins HS, college at University of Arizona-Tucson.
Gordon was an avid learner and loved to work with his hands. His many crafts and skills included: carpentry, cabinetry, mechanic and racing motorcycles. He was often tinkering in his workshop, creating model airplanes and trains to tree houses and handmade bunk beds for his children.
Gordon loved to hike and was a member of several hiking clubs in St Louis. You may have seen him early morning as he climbed the hills for a peek at the sunrise.
Gordon had passion for all types of music, and played Conga drums in and around town at Graham’s Grill, Sugar Creek Winery, Chevy’s and other locales. He will be missed for his sense of humor, great hugs, and knowledge.
Church service will be Saturday, March 25th, 9:30AM at St Michael & St George (Clayton, MO) proceeding to Oak Grove cemetery. Celebration of his life will follow at 612 W Woodbine Ave, Kirkwood Mo (next door to former Graham’s Grill) from 1-4pm. Please join us to celebrate Gordon with food, music, and stories.
In lieu of flowers, family requests, and gratefully appreciates, donations to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or family will accept donations to purchase a bench in his honor at Castlewood State Park.
