Jennie B. Clay , age 73 years, of St. Louis, MO, passed away on September 17, 2019. She was born to the union of Mary White and Martin McCarty on November 28, 1945 in Shubuta, MS. Jennie graduated from Quitman High School in MS and continued on to receive a Masters Degree in School of Communications of Arts from Webster University St. Louis, MO .
Jennie was married to Willie C. Clay Jr.; they were married for 49 years. Jennie worked as a Teacher for 3 1/2 years in MS and University City School District for 37 years. She enjoyed sports, played video games, loved to read books, and the Bible. She also loved bowling, bowling, bowling. Jennie gave her life to Christ in 1970 at Sutter Presbyterian Church, Pastor Bill McConkey. She later in life also attended Faith Church.
Jennie is survived by children Jason Clay, Sonja Clay, grandson Matthew Clay Graves, nieces, nephews, other family, lifelong friend and coworker Ms. Earlene Brooks.
Jennie is preceded in death by parents Mary and Martin McCarty, brothers James McCarty, Ezell McCarty and husband Willie C. Clay Jr.
The visitation and verification service was held at 9am September 24, 2019 at Baue Care and Cremation Center in St. Charles MO. Celebration of life will be held at a later date and time.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Cancer Society of St. Louis, MO, SLU Care Cancer Center.
