In loving memory of John Arthur Polston, a true Missourian with a knack for fixing both cars and hearts. John, 70, of Hillsboro, Missouri, shuffled off this mortal coil on August 12, 2023, showing cancer that it can't outshine his spirit! #CancerSucks
Born in St. Louis on August 31, 1952, John took life's lessons from the prestigious School of Hard Knocks, eventually earning an honorary master's degree from the University of Life.
John's love story with Lisa began on February 18, 1983, resulting in a 40-year marriage that was the stuff of legends!
Having spent his days as a mechanic, John could mend anything from a broken-down engine to a broken heart. He cherished his role as a family man, delighting in card games, heartfelt chats, and even the delightful chaos of watching the kids chasing their tails.
Survived by his devoted wife Lisa and a bustling brood of children—Demetria (David), Jessica (Wally), Eric (Jaclyn), Heather and Hollie —John leaves behind a trail of laughter and memories. And let's not forget the slew of grandkids, Brittani, Robert, Marissa, Joey, Bobby, Brittany, Brandon, Sean, Elizabeth, Colton, Johnathan, Blaine, Stephen, Nick, Nichole, Eric Jr, Autumn, Alexis and Kendrick and great-grandkids, Wyatt, Brayden, Jaxon and Everleigh who carryon his legacy of love and mischief!
John's family tree was rooted in strength and support, with his sister Janet by his side through thick and thin. He now reunites with his parents, Murl and Juanita, siblings Janice, Larry, Gary, and Brian, granddaughter Abigail, son-in-law Wally, and mother-in-law Bernadine, among others not named and not forgotten.
A celebration of John's life will be held on September 30, 2023, from 1pm-4pm at the Desoto Community Center with Pastor Gary Eubanks officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Demetria Rupkey for Lisa Polston—a tribute to the love that bound them.
A special shoutout goes to Phyillis Massie for her unwavering love and support, to the fantastic team at Promedica Hospice (especially Sam), and to the countless friends and family who showered John with love throughout his journey. Though his engine may have stalled, his spirit races on in our hearts!
