Judith K. Clemente

October 25, 1937 — July 27, 2023

Maryville, IL

Clemente, Judith (nee: Karrick), 85, of Maryville, IL was called home to be with Jesus on July 27, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones.

Judy was born on October 25, 1937, in Glen Ferris, West Virginia. She grew up in the small towns of Boomer, Gauley Bridge and Glen Ferris and she loved to tell stories about her childhood to any listening ear. She attended 2 years of college at West Virginia Institute of Technology where she met her city slicker husband, Tom, and was whisked off to live most of her adult life in a tiny suburb southwest of Chicago called Nottingham Park. She was a prominent member of the community working as a lunch lady at the elementary school, an assistant librarian at the middle school, a secretary at the elementary administration office and eventually as a secretary in the Counseling Department of the high school where she also taught pre-vocational skills to special education students. She was active in her churches, teaching Sunday School at Nottingham Bible Church and later singing in the choir at Summit Bible Church.

Upon her retirement, Judy enjoyed many at home activities including reading, watching t.v. (she especially liked watching ‘Da Bears’ play football), adult coloring, solving crossword puzzles and playing computer games. But her ultimate joy was found in interacting with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who in the last 12 years of her life lived close by.

Judy is survived by her daughters Tami (Raymond) Bonnell and Jamie (Marcus) De Geer, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles “Woodson” and Wilma “Billie” Karrick, her brother, James “Skip” Karrick, her son, Thomas “Skeeter” Clemente, and her husband Tom Clemente.

A Memorial Service will be held at Summit Bible Church located at 7400 W. 55th Place, Summit, IL 60501 on Saturday, October 7 at 11:00 am with visitation at 10:00 am. There will be a luncheon in the upstairs fellowship hall immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Summit Bible Church (address above) to carry on the mission and ministry that Judy was so dedicated to.
