With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to our beloved Linda, who peacefully departed from this world on April 1st 2024, after a valiant battle of cancer. She was 73 years old.

Linda Lee Askins was born on January 3, 1951 in East St Louis, IL to Walter Wesley Askins and Virgie Lee Askins. Throughout her life, she was a source of love, strength, and wisdom to her family and anyone who crossed her path. She will forever be remembered for her unwavering kindness, infectious laughter, and selflessness.

Family meant everything to Linda, and she poured her heart and soul into nurturing and supporting her loved ones. Her home was a haven of joy and comfort, where she welcomed everyone. Whether it was through a delicious homemade meal, a listening ear, or heartfelt advice, she touched the lives of countless individuals and left a mark on their hearts. She had an unparalleled ability to make everyone feel cherished and valued. Linda had a zest for life that was truly inspiring. Despite facing numerous challenges, she approached each day with resilience and determination, refusing to let adversity dim her light. Despite all the challenges she faced towards the end of her precious life, she was constantly putting others before herself.

One of her greatest passions in life was cooking for her family, while listening to her favorite music play in the background. She had an infectious personality that made everyone gravitate to her. Her children and grandchildren would sit in the kitchen with her countless hours while she spent time baking the world’s best desserts. When she wasn’t cooking, she would enjoy creating special pieces with her cross stitching, completing puzzles, and creating floral arrangements.

In addition to being a devoted partner, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother, Linda was a cherished friend, confidante, and mentor. Her wisdom, generosity, and compassion knew no bounds, and she enriched the lives of those around her in countless ways.

Linda was predeceased by her parents Walter Wesley Askins and Virgie Lee Askins and her partner Jimmy Hershall Reed . She is survived by her children Michelle Huss, Scott Askins, and Tara Reed; her grandchildren, Ashley Graham, Kaitlyn Watson, Bryant Reed, Keirra Lawrence, Skyler Huss, Faith Huss, Hailey Huss, and Rodney Lawrence; and her great-grandchild, Lorelei Graham.

Linda’s love, kindness, and laughter will be deeply missed, but will continue to inspire us all in the days and years to come. May she rest in eternal peace, knowing that she was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
