Loretta Ann Kleffner

June 19, 1943 — February 19, 2025

Loretta Ann Kleffner (née Hoelscher) passed away on February 19, 2025, at the age of 81. She was the beloved wife of Thomas Lawrence Kleffner and a devoted mother to Russell Kleffner and Michael (Stephanie) Kleffner. A cherished grandmother, Loretta’s love extended to Brandy (Joe) Alonso, Nicholas, Benjamin, Lily, Max, Laney Kleffner and great-grandmother to Adaline Alonso

Born on June 19, 1943, Loretta was the daughter of the late Hubert and Helen Hoelscher. She was a loving sister to the late James (Barbara) Hoelscher and Bernard (Carolyn) Hoelscher. She was a sister-in-law to the late James (Sharon) Kleffner, Alice (and the late Dewayne) Robertson, Betty (and the late Ray) Winkleman, John (Linda) Kleffner, Jerry (Donna) Kleffner, Cathy Allen and Donna (Dave) Schwartze . She was also a treasured aunt, cousin, and dear friend to many others.

Loretta spent much of her working years teaching pre-school at the First United Methodist Preschool in St. Charles where she loved teaching and caring for many children through the years, just like her mother. Loretta’s deep Catholic faith guided her throughout her life. She gave her time generously to the St. Robert Bellarmine Parish and the St. Elizabeth and St. Robert Catholic School.

Beyond her faith and family and just like her father, Loretta was a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team and spent many a summer night listening to her beloved Cardinals on the radio. She shared her love for the Cardinals with family and friends alike and her favorite color was Cardinal red.

SERVICES: Loretta made the decision, with Thomas, that they each wanted to donate their bodies to science, after death, and the family did so for Loretta in the care of St. Louis University. A Memorial Service Mass will be celebrated, in Loretta’s honor, on Saturday, March 29, at 11 AM at St. Robert Bellarmine in St. Charles.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Duchesne Catholic High School in St. Charles MO
