Michael E. Davis, age 58, died Friday, October 16, 2015 at his home of 21 years in the presence of his children and sisters.
Mike was born to Joyce and Russell Davis on July 12, 1957, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He graduated from the University of Southern California in 1980, where he was a member of the Naval ROTC program. Upon graduation, Mike was commissioned as a Naval Officer, and earned his Naval Aviator Wings in 1982. Once finished with his naval commitment, he was employed by TWA as a flight engineer. Mike advanced his aviation career by becoming a TWA Captain in 1999. He took off and touched down for the last time November 8, 2014 on Flight 356 from Atlanta to Dallas as an American Airlines pilot.
Mike is survived by his daughter Lauren, son Patrick, sisters Shari and KellyAnn, brother Eric, and mother Joyce. Michael was, above all else, a devoted and loving father, son, and brother.
Mike's two children are his greatest legacy, and he made many sacrifices throughout his life to support Patrick and Lauren's endeavors. Between traveling to sports games, graciously paying for their education, supporting Lauren on her Montana adventures, helping Patrick make it to the slopes for snowboarding every year, or lending a listening ear during the trials and tribulations, Mike was always there for his kids. Most importantly, Mike taught Patrick and Lauren how to navigate this world with critical thinking, problem solving, and compassion.
Mike was taken far too soon, just three weeks after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. We hope that, in lieu of flowers, you will make a donation to one of the organizations that took such great care of Mike in his last weeks: Barnes Jewish Hospital, Heartland Hospice, or the American Cancer Society.
