Norman Stewart Schlag passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2024. Loving husband of Betty Jean Schlag (nee Justen). Dear father of Debbie (Chris) Ley, Denice (Steve) Hurt, Grandfather of Meredith (Trent) Stone, Mike (Kate) Hurt, the late Robbie Ley, Missy (Justin) Hawkins and Kristen (Josh) Green. Great Grandfather of Brock, Addison, Lilly, Greer, Lou, Henry and Vivian. Brother of Sue (the late Tony) Risner and the late Darwin (the late Polly Lou) Schlag, Jr.
Norman proudly served in the United States Coast Guard from 1952 to 1955 as a sonar operator. After completing his service Norman went to work for IBM Corp and retired from management after 36 years. In 1971 Norm and Betty purchased an AFrame in Aspenhof which laid the foundation for many happy and ongoing memories for 4 generations.
Norm was an avid golfer and handyman and enjoyed helping his kids with their home projects. He and Betty, his wife of 72 years, loved to travel while still finding time to be active in his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s lives.
Visitation: 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass 10:30 a.m., Wednesday July 31st at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church 7707 Town Square Ave. Dardenne Prairie, MO 63368 and luncheon to follow. Interment at Jefferson Barracks cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations appreciated to Cardinal Glennon Children's Foundation.
