Paul Lyman Bartelt, of St. Ann, Missouri, formerly of Quincy, Illinois, died on May 12, 2021. He was born in Quincy, Illinois on March 19, 1954 to Bruce G. Bartelt and Elizabeth J (Yancey) Bartelt.
Paul attended Quincy Public Schools, graduating in 1972. He attended Western Illinois University and graduated from Quincy University with a degree in business administration. He worked for Ozark Airlines and other large companies, eventually retiring from St. Louis Scott Gallagher Soccer Club.
Paul was married to Gennie Lynn Bova (Shuck) on September 28, 2002. They were happily married for 18 ½ years.
Paul enjoyed being outdoors and could often be seen walking his beloved dog Grady. He spent many vacations high-mountain fishing in the Wind River Mountains of Wyoming; as well as area lakes near St. Louis, Quincy and northeast Missouri. Paul was a pilot and loved to fly. He was a member of the Missouri Experimental Aircraft Association, and a past president of the Missouri Pilots Association.
In addition to his wife, Gennie, Paul is survived by four siblings; Gary (Ruth) Bartelt, David Bartelt, Becky Brewer and Dan (Cindy) Bartelt all of Quincy Illinois. He is also survived by 11 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother-in-law John Brewer and his best dog buddy Griz.
A memorial service for family and friends to honor Paul will be held on May 26, 2021, Trinity Church, 2020 South 24th Street, Quincy, IL at 10:30 a.m. Please follow CDC guidelines.
