Ruby Faye Gold, 82, of Saint Charles Missouri, passed to The LORD on Friday, 18 December, 2020.
Known with deep affection as “Red”, “Mama” “Nana” and “Sugar”, Ruby was born in Arkansas 18 March, 1938. She attended high school in Matthews, Missouri before leaving the cotton fields of Second Ditch to become a songwriter in Nashville where she met radio personality, “Dan Daly Gold” in 1968. The two were soon married and pursuing their joint musical careers, achieving kudos and receiving awards for songs they wrote, including tunes for Frank Sinatra, Gladys Knight, Dionne Warwick, Ray Charles, Anne Murray and Frank Sinatra Junior, as well as for country greats such as Reba McEntire, Tammy Wynette, Barbara Mandrell, Faron Young, Charlie Rich and The Oak Ridge Boys. In addition to writing her wonderful music, she was personal business manager, booking agent and close family friend to iconic superstar, Roy Orbison.
Ruby is survived by her husband, Dan, her children Vicky, Jeff and Michael(and Michael’s wife, Jacki), her step-daughter April Mae Cusick, beautiful twin granddaughters Trinity & Alyssa… and two grand-sons, Daniel & John.
A devout Full-Gospel Holy Ghost Christian, she was preceded in death by her parents, John & Aubrey-Jackson Kelso and six siblings --- with one surviving sister, Dorothy Kelso-Walls.
A memorial-visitation was held at Noon, Wednesday 23 December at the Baue Care and Cremation Center in Saint Peters.
Ruby’s husband, Dan, sends deepest thanks and grateful appreciation to Dawn, Julia, Carla, Samantha and all the warm-and-caring staff at Evelyn’s House Hospice, and additional gratitude to Amy Schaffner, Director, Cremation Society of Missouri.
