Rush Barksdale

Edward Rush Barksdale, of Troy, MO, passed away Sunday, July 4, 2021 at the age of 73. Beloved husband of Deborah Barksdale; cherished son of the late LA and Lois Barksdale; devoted father of Mandy Ledbetter, Tara (Lance Hill) Dietrich, Joshua Dietrich, and Kate (Al) Smith; loving grandfather of Jordan, Jacob, Markus, Tanner, Riley, Clayton, Tristan, Alaina, Brooklyn, Tyler, Olivia, Brianna, and McKenna; treasured great-grandfather of Gabriel and Vanessa; special nephew of Martha Sue Sanders; dear cousin John (Judy) Barksdale. Rush was also a dear brother-in-law and friend to many.

Rush was an amazing man with so many qualities, a true southern gentleman, a soft-spoken cowboy. He loved his wife deeply; his children and grandchildren meant the world to him, and he was a great friend to many. He served two tours in Vietnam. In his life he Rodeo’d, drove 18 wheelers, enjoyed his chopper “Sweetpea”. He loved fishing, ranching, his horses, his job at the courthouse, and his country. He will be dearly missed by everyone.

Memorials may be made in Edward's name to Folds of Honor or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

A Memorial Gathering will be held at Pitman Funeral Home in Wentzville, MO on July, 11, 2021 from 2pm – 6pm.
