Thomas F. Bankston III, 76, a husband, stepfather, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, passed away peacefully in the presence of family on November 9, 2023. He couldn’t go long without telling a joke or a silly rhyme (he was a poet and didn’t know it, but his feet sure showed it, longfellows) so he’d probably rather you laugh while you read this.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Betty J. Bankston, with whom he co-owned B&T Auto Repair in St. Peters, MO. He loved cars (well, except Fords, which he’d tell you stood for Found On Roadside Dead) and would think about them so much during the day that he’d dream he was a muffler (he’d wake up exhausted). He is survived by Betty’s three children, Velma 'Farris' Godt (Dennis), Paul M. Farris Jr., and Valerie 'Farris' Hume (Andrew); four grandchildren, Evan Godt (Kristin), Ethan Godt (Emilie), Travis Hume (Britni) and Danni Hume; two great grandchildren, McKenna Hume and Kaleb Hume; siblings Alice L. Bailey (Jerry), Mary A. Holway (Jerry), and Sandra J. Walter (Ken); nieces and a nephew, as well as their families. He is, also, preceded in death by his parents, Thomas F. Bankston, Jr and Gladys L. Bankston (nee Hodo); sister Karan L. Pupillo.
Tom was raised in the church and loved the Lord. He cherished, a good meal, fishing and time with family.
