Tonie Dale Helmig

Tonie Dale Helmig, age 81, of Hermann passed away peacefully on Monday, April 17, 2023 surrounded by his family and friends. Tonie was born on June 2, 1941 in Judge, MO, a son of the late Roy and Viola Helmig.  

On February 22, 1969, Tonie was united in marriage to Janet Sue Valley. Janet preceded him in death on August 17, 2015. In addition to his parents and wife, Tonie was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Helmig; one sister, Carrolin Littlefield; one son, Michael Helmig; and one grandson, Richard Helmig.  

Tonie is survived by his daughter, Michelle Helmig Stephens (Dale) of the home. Michelle took care of her father until he passed. Also surviving are sons, Tim (Jennifer) Helmig of Sullivan, Harold (Lisa) Gould of Bland, Jeff (Shannon) Helmig of Owensville, John (Sue) Helmig of Leslie, and Randy (Wendy) Helmig of Washington, MO. Siblings surviving are Bill (Florence) Helmig, Connie Helmig, John (Shirlynn) Helmig, Leroy Helmig and Marilyn Bonnell. Tonie is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.  

Tonie drove a diesel for most of his adult life, owning Helmig and Sons trucking for a period of time before retirement. Tonie loved spending time with family and friends, singing karaoke, playing pool, card and board games, fishing and boating. Tonie was an avid arguer and loved to argue with anyone who would argue back.
