Virgil LeRoy Hill

January 19, 1939 — January 14, 2025

Dardenne Praire, Missouri

Virgil Leroy Hill, of Dardenne Prairie, MO, passed away on January 14th, 2025, at the age of 85 (just 5 days short of his 86th Birthday). He was the Son of the late Albert and Mabel Hill; devoted father of James (Michelle) Hill and Stacey (Michael) Pederson; loving grandfather of Noelle Himmes, Faith and Gavin Pederson, Michael and Mackenzie Hill, Emily and Lillian Schaefer, Sarah (Connor) McCrite, and Brittany (Michael) Hutra; treasured great grandfather of Ben, Jack, Noah, Mayson, Allie, Jaxson & Brantley.

After graduating from Stanhope Iowa High School, Virgil attended an electronic school (United Electronics) in West De Moines, Iowa. Employers came to interview graduates and offer employment. Virgil accepted employment with McDonnel/Douglas (now known as Boeing) in St. Louis, MO.

Virgil created wiring diagram manuals for the F4 Phantom fighter jets from engineering source data. It was here that Virgil met Barbara Nowell who worked in a sister group in the same building. Barb asked Virgil if he would go on a hayride with her, and the rest is history. Barb and Virgil ended up getting married and had two great children (James and Stacey).

Virgil loved spending time with Barb and the kids, going out to movies, dinners, playing games, sightseeing, etc. Virgil, of course being a Viking, loved Barb making his favorite Norwegian Kringlas for the holidays.

Later in life, Virgil inspected Fiber Optic Construction to ensure the contractor was fulfilling his requirements to the Fiber Company.

Virgil’s interment is at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO

Memorials may be mailed in Virgil’s name to: National Association for Down Syndrome 1460 Renaissance Drive Suite #102 Park Ridge, IL 60068.
